Job Description


Technical Advisor


Scope of Position
This position will lead and direct the work of the field engineers in O&M.


Reports to: Director or VP O&M
Division/Department: O&M
Location:Forest City, IA
Classification: Exempt


Working Conditions
50% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project), telephones, and general office equipment. 50% of the time is spent in the field meeting with O&M managers, or going to industry conferences.


Responsibilities
  • Manage TIL and turbine manuals, turbine configuration (models as in generation1,2)
  • Review and summarize new turbine manuals- associated with new contracts
  • Evaluate major component failures, trends
  • Trend faults and failures- suggest solutions
  • Gearbox condition trending
  • Control and manage turbine issues list (GE, Repower)
  • Lead testing of – climb assists, filter systems, optional equipment (sky climber, etc)
  • Evaluate added value items we could provide and market to customers
  • Evaluate vendor offers that are miracle cures
  • Manage the tool manager position, evaluate new tool needs and efficiencies
  • Write and update procedures for technical processes
  • Research and development of new tools, equipment, and processes as well as root cause investigations
Qualifications
  • Five years experience in wind or related technical field required.
  • Technical experience required
  • Computer skills including Word, excel, database, outlook, OSI Pi, statistical analysis tools
  • Education required: Bachelors degree in engineering or similar technical field.
