Job Description


Product Manager, PV Modules


Scope of Position
This position will work closely with enXco's Director of Utility Scale Solar, Vice President of Emerging Technologies and enXco's Technical Services Department to lead enXco's efforts in performing comprehensive technical and business evaluations of photovoltaic module technologies and companies in the commercial or pre-commercial stage. The ideal candidate will have +5 years of relevant experience in the photovoltaic industry evaluating different solar module suppliers form both a technical and business perspective.

Location: Escondido, CA
Classification: Exempt


Working Conditions
60% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, 60% of the time will be spent visiting solar manufacturers, attending meetings with testing and national laboratory facilities, attending conferences, and in the field at Solar R&D facilities.


Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with enXco's R&D team, the EDF EN R&D team and other Product Managers in driving technical evaluation of photovoltaic technologies, including module performance, module efficiency, manufacturability, and cost with an emphasis on identifying photovoltaic solutions that drive LCOEs toward PV grid parity.
  • Run side by side comparisons of different PV technologies and calculate their levelized cost of electricity, taking into account all aspects of a project life cycle cost. Prepare easy to understand comparative reports for management review.
  • Identify business opportunities with module manufactures for enXco and EDF EN to gain differential advantage in the solar generation market place through master supply purchasing arrangements, potential equity investments, and other business arrangements.
  • Coordinate with module manufacturers, enXco's R&D team, and EDF EN's R&D team to arrange for testing of photovoltaic modules at accredited testing facilities and through enXco owned test arrays.
  • Lead the effort in providing photovoltaic module procurement recommendations for enXco and EDF EN.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager for Balance of System Solutions and enXco's Technical Services department so to make collective recommendations for photovoltaic system solutions which drive down the levelized cost of energy from enXco developed projects.
  • Working with the Director of the Utility Solar Group and enXco's Legal department, to represent enXco in all aspects of panel procurement negotiations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) in Material Science, Solid State Physics, Engineering or Business
  • Coursework or relevant experience demonstrating strong business analytics and negotiating skills.
  • Strong quantitative skills and fluency with project proformas
  • +5 years of experience in photovoltaic industry.
