Job Description


Product Manager, Balance of System - Utility Solar Group


Scope of Position
This position will work closely with enXco's Director of Utility Scale Solar, Vice President of Emerging Technologies and enXco's Technical Services Department to lead enXco's efforts in performing comprehensive technical and business evaluations of photovoltaic balance of system solutions. The ideal candidate will have +10 years of relevant combined experience in engineering, procurement and/or construction of photovoltaic plants. The candidate should possess a strong technical base with solid engineering and/or construction credentials, but also have a strong aptitude for business & market analytics, quantitative skills, and the ability to compare and contrast the levelized cost of energy of different product solutions.

Working Conditions
60% of the time is spent in the office environment, 40% of the time will be spent visiting photovoltaic equipment OEMs, attending meetings with potential suppliers and EPCs, attending industry conferences, and in the field at existing & under construction photovoltaic projects as well as Solar R&D facilities.


Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with enXco's Developers, Technical Services Department and other Product Managers to lead the effort in evaluating third party photovoltaic balance of system solutions, as well as contribute to engineering and economic review of in-house photovoltaic balance of system components and solutions; must have a comprehensive focus on driving out cost, increasing system performance, reducing system downtime, accelerating construction schedules and other techniques to help bring photovoltaic generation to grid parity.
  • Run side by side comparisons of different system solutions calculate their levelized cost of electricity, taking into account all aspects of a project life cycle cost. Prepare easy to understand comparative reports for management review.
  • Identify business opportunities with photovoltaic equipment suppliers and EPC Contractors for enXco to gain differential competitive advantage in the solar generation market place through purchasing arrangements, potential equity investments, and other business arrangements.
  • Coordinate with photovoltaic equipment OEMs, enXco's R&D team, and EDF EN's R&D team to arrange for testing of balance of system solutions at enXco's R&D facilities in California.
  • Assist in drafting enXco's request for proposals of third party EPCs for balance of system solutions and support the evaluation of the bid responses.
  • Work closely with enXco's Product Manager for Photovoltaic Modules and enXco's R&D team so to make collective photovoltaic module procurement recommendations which drive down the levelized cost of energy from enXco developed projects.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Coursework or relevant experience demonstrating strong business analytics and negotiating skills.
  • +10 years of experience in civil, industrial or energy engineering and construction. Relevant experience in the photovoltaic industry greatly preferred. .
  • Strong quantitative skills and fluency with power project proformas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
