Job Description


Field Engineer


This position, under general direction from the Operations Manager, performs all aspects of support for the O&M department. Also assists field technicians with turbine repair problems as needed.


Scope of Position
This position, under specific direction from the site supervisor, maintains turbines, including but not limited to preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.

Division/Department: O&M
Locations: Dexter, MN
Classification: Non exempt


Working Conditions
Field Engineers spend 85% of their time in the field, excluding scheduled training and/or supervisory meetings. Field Engineer may work alone and are provided a company vehicle (truck) in which they carry the required tools and parts and may perform inspections and/or repairs on turbines in multiple wind fields on any given day. Generally, Field Engineers may work in extreme weather conditions.


Responsibilities
  • Assist and train field crews trouble-shooting and repairs.
  • Take a lead role as needed to assist the management staff.
  • Ability to lead and perform major component change outs.
  • Assist with Communication system repairs.
  • Assist the high voltage department as needed.
  • Research parts and specialty tools.
  • Travel to other sites to provide assistance as needed.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Five to seven years wind turbine technician experience
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to follow enXco QC and Safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical schematics.
  • Able to design and draw simple mechanical drawings
  • Ability to work with heights, including climbing up and descending towers of various heights.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with others.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc.
  • Able to demonstrate ability to work in a mechanical environment. This may be achieved through formal training or previous work experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of electricity.
  • Able to provide proof of a current driver's license and clean driving record, in order to operate company vehicles (field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways.
  • Ability to demonstrate computer knowledge.
