Job Description
Developer – Renewable Energy
Scope of Position
The Developer – Renewable Energy is responsible for acquiring new sources of revenue from the acquisition or development of renewable energy projects. Areas of expertise should include wind, biomass, hydro and/or solar; with work in land management, project origination, project development, project management, project construction or project engineering. This position works as part of the Canadian Development Team and directly with members of the Executive Team in support of corporate growth strategies.
Locations: Toronto, ON Canada
Working Conditions
Approximately 50% of the time is spent in the office environment. Frequent use of phones, general office equipment, and various Microsoft Office Suite products including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Picture Manager, and Project are required. Other data base applications may be required. 50% of the time is spent outside of the office meeting with other project developers, companies, land owners at project or potential project sites, meeting with vendors or individuals involved in development activities, or attending industry conferences.
Key Objectives
- Develop new revenue streams for the company
- Have a comprehensive understanding of all entities involved in the renewable energy space across all technologies.
- Formulate and implement strategies to support corporate objectives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all renewable energy companies in the market and their current status
- Understand policy objectives by governmental agencies and develop complementary growth strategies
- Complete basic financial analysis and modeling of opportunities
- Project origination, development, due diligence and all related activities.
- Project management, land management, construction support and related activities as required.
- Communicate relevant aspects and needs of the above-described tasks to the greater Regional Development Team.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- BA/BSc. from an accredited university.
- MBA, solid financial analytical skills or graduate designation is an added plus.
- A minimum of six (6) years experience working in wind energy, renewable energy or related fields with a strong technical background.
- Strong organizational, communication and management skills, both written and verbal.
- Strategic understanding of Canadian renewable energy markets
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in financial modeling and/or pro forma analysis
- Willingness to travel within the identified region or areas outside the region if necessary. Travel is anticipated to be approximately 50% of the work schedule.
