Job Description
Wind Construction Manager
Scope of Position
Responsible for managing the engineering, procurement and construction activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start-up and commence commercial operation of multiple wind energy projects.
Location: Various
Working Conditions
50% of the time is spent in the office environment utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project), phones and general office equipment. 50% of the time is spent in the field traveling to project sites and vendor facilities within the United States and overseas.
Pre Construction Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Development Group on land issues permitting and sighting.
- Pre qualify Contractors.
- Work with AWS for micro sighting projects.
- Arrange per construction activities such as first phase geotechnical engineering and FAA requirements.
- Work with the engineers to develop and finalize construction scope of work and drawings. Review drawings before they are released for bid.
- Prepare request for proposals, evaluate bids and award contracts.
- Work with lawyers and contractors to negotiate and finalize contracts.
Construction Responsibilities
- Manage the overall projects, maximizing projects and returns.
- Administer contracts.
- Manage and work closely with enXco's assigned on site managers.
- Schedule and conduct on site progress meetings with contractors and suppliers.
- Review and validate pay requests.
- Supervisor Contractors performance of work.
- Review testing and inspections to insure Contractor's compliance with specifications, drawings and applicable Safety, Building Fire and Electrical Codes.
- Review time schedules of construction.
- Analyze construction problems and recommend a course of action.
- Work closely with the accounting department with operating budgets, costs and expenses.
- Attend project meetings, as required.
- Generate project status reports and briefings for all levels of management.
Post Construction Responsibilities
- Organize and deliver to lenders all required documentation.
- Review contractors closing documentation.
- Work with contractor and suppliers to achieve final completion.
- Support any warranty issues.
- Support any contractual issues.
Qualifications
- Typically has some level of college education.
- Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- 5+ year's industry experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience in project construction required; wind-energy project construction preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication and management skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter, friendly personality and good team player.
