enXco Proposes Benton County Wind Farm

MINNEAPOLIS, MN.—January 12, 2004—enXco, Inc. has proposed construction of a 100 Megawatt (MW) wind farm in Benton County, Indiana. The "Indiana Winds" project is slated to be built in summer 2005 and supply electricity to Indiana utilities and their customers for 30 years.

enXco has been working in the Benton County area for two years planning this development. The company began with a statewide search for wind resources adequate to serve the utility customers, but quickly narrowed it's focus to the Benton County site. enXco's Indiana Winds project site includes good wind resource and proximity to suitable electrical transmission and distribution facilities. Recently released state wind maps have confirmed what enXco's wind monitors have shown over the last two years-that there is sufficient wind speed to begin planning for construction of this project.

enXco currently plans to employ sixty-seven GE Wind Energy 1.5 MW wind turbine generators, same as it installed at a 100 MW plant in Minnesota in 2003. This efficient and quiet technology operates at approximately 50 decibels and will not be heard unless you are within 500 feet. enXco plans to work closely with local officials and landowners to assure all questions are answered about this latest turbine technology. The project will provide electricity for more than 25 thousand homes on an average annual basis.

"We are pleased to work with the landowners, local officials and electric utilities to develop this project. The community has made our company feel very welcome and we look forward to a great success for all the stakeholders in this project," emphasized Joe Fahrendorf, enXco's Vice President for Business Development.

enXco, Inc., based in North Palm Springs, California has developed and owned wind energy projects in the United States for nearly 20 years. enXco's wind energy experience includes long-term operation and maintenance of more than 4,000 wind turbines in areas as diverse as the Mountains of Vermont and the Deserts of California. The average annual availability on enXco-managed projects consistently exceeds 98 percent. The company's development team has completed projects for Pacific Gas & Electric, Florida Power & Light, the U. S. Navy, the U. S. Air Force, the Tennessee Valley Authority, Southern California Edison, Xcel Energy, and Great River Energy, among others.
