IT Business Systems Analyst

Scope of Position

The IT Business Systems Analyst for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Systems will work with leaders and key personnel in the O&M organization, including regional and site-level Operations Management, Technical Services, the Operations Control Center, and other departments to identify and analyze business process issues and opportunities, and to evaluate the potential application of new or modified technology solutions.  He/she will actively participate in applications implementation projects related to his/her areas of responsibility, providing:

  • Requirements definition and management
  • Business process development and documentation of "as is" and "to be' process and data flows
  • Facilitation of conversion activities during implementation
  • Test plan development and oversight of testing cycles, resulting in obtaining end-user acceptance.
  • Training of key business people, as the trainer or in support of the trainer
  • Day-to-day operational interface for assigned applications
  • Facilitation of issue resolution with impacted organizations

  • The IT Business Systems Analyst will also provide on-going support for business applications used by his/her assigned client organizations, including troubleshooting of reported problems, facilitation of cross-functional discussions of related software or business process changes, and end user training support.

Working Conditions

80% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers, servers, peripheral equipment, phones, and general office equipment. 20% of the time is spent traveling outside of the office to other enXco locations or vendor locations located in the US, Canada and Mexico, for the purpose of project related work, and to attend conferences, trade shows, and professional development events.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the SAP Service Materials Management/inventory and Procure-to Pay implementations as the key functional resource from the IT team, as directed by the Manager of O&M and Generation Systems
  • Provide end user support for SAP and other technology solutions used by the O&M organization, during implementation and upgrades of the software, including the definition of a strategy for conversion, record retention and planning for system retirement if applicable
  • When assigned to projects, work with subject matter experts (SMEs) from assigned client business organizations, and related functions, to develop and document project-related business processes, including "as is" and "to be" process and data flows
  • Facilitate data conversion activities for assigned application implementation projects with end users, other IT team members, and vendor technical resources
  • Serve as the application administrator on assigned projects during the initial implementation phase(s) and document on-going application administrative procedures; transfer knowledge to permanent application administrator personnel and cross-train at least one backup administrator, as defined by the project plan
  • Develop testing plans, scripts and coordinate testing to end-user acceptance.
  • Develop a formal end user training plans with key business leaders and vendor/system integrator functional staff; work with SMEs and software vendor/system integrator to create end user training materials which encompass business process, naming conventions and other standards, and system functionality; provide training to groups and individuals, according to the agreed upon training plan
  • Provide initial production support for the assigned applications upon go-live; troubleshoot end user issues and escalate to software vendor as needed; document recurring issues and application resolution procedures, and transfer knowledge to appropriate business super-user and/or IT personnel; create and publish periodic "tips and techniques" communications for end user community after go-live
  • Coordinate implementation of interim software upgrades with end user community and vendor/system integrator technical staff during implementation phase(s), including documentation of pending changes, development and execution of a formal communication plan, and initial production support
  • Comprehend and comply with IT policies and processes in the areas of software development and implementation; insure segregation of duties compliance with IFRS requirements and GAAP requirements, in working with business end users to define applications security and workflow roles/responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with SMEs, super-users, and internal and external IT resources on assigned projects, working toward common business objectives, timelines, and quality delivery.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current and new software functionality available related to assigned systems, through independent research, and attending relevant conferences, trade shows, and vendor-sponsored events.
  • Understand and actively support enXco's application architecture and IT strategy.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate awareness of all company business solutions, through information sharing and cross-training with other IT Business Analysts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or similar field
  • 5-8 years of business system analysis experience implementing enterprise class software applications of significant complexity (ERP, CMMS, etc.) in the corporate systems functions. SAP experience preferred
  • 2-3 years experience supporting end users in materials managements, procure-to-pay support, operations, or service business functions at a variety of remote locations
  • Knowledge of complex business operations, data management concepts, and business intelligence technologies required
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Strong group facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, process design and researching skills. Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology is also a plus.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills; able to address business issues and conflicts in a professional, constructive, and non-technical manner; bi-lingual (English/French) a plus.
  • Must be organized and show initiative. Able to balance multiple priorities and assignments to meet stated deadlines with quality results.
  • Basic desktop skills required, including Windows and Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Access, Visio and Outlook. Hands on knowledge of information query tools, such as SQL or report writing tools, strongly preferred.
